marriage and family therapist California
Hi, i’m Josiah .

Josiah J. Gonzales, AMFT

My therapeutic motto is, “You lead, I follow.” I believe you are the expert in your own life. Thus, my role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, honesty, and support rather than tell you who you should become.

As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and a graduate of Capella University’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, I support individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, performance pressure, substance use, compulsive behaviors, and major life transitions. I am also supportive of providing services to men, athletes, LGBTQ+ clients, trauma survivors, and individuals who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, unheard, or uncertain about their inner world and direction in life.

My approach is collaborative and client-led, grounded in Narrative Therapy and informed by Existential, Relational, Systemic, and Parts-based perspectives. Together, we can slow down and explore the unseen frames, past experiences, relationships, cultural expectations, internalized beliefs, and personal stories that may be shaping how you understand yourself, relate to others, and view the possibilities available to you.

I strive to create a warm, honest, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore difficult experiences without feeling pressured to have everything figured out. As we build upon your strengths, clarify what matters to you, and discover new ways of responding to life’s challenges, we’ll find hope and move forward at a pace that feels supportive, meaningful, and authentic to you.

You lead, I follow.
