Frequently Asked Questions
We are very happy to work with you if we are out-of-network with your insurance plan. You will be provided with a Superbill at the end of each month that you can then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
We are not currently credentialed to work with Medi-Cal or Medicare clients.
As of January 2022, there are new federal protections regarding Surprise Billing and the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for uninsured, private pay, and out of network (not submitting to insurance) clients. This is a notice of those federal protections.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost
Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. (However, we do not provide medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment or hospitalization at Expansion Counseling Center.)
Your health care provider shall provide you a Good Faith Estimate in writing prior to your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider and any other provider you choose (to work with), for a Good Faith Estimate during scheduling.
If you receive a bill that is at substantially higher than estimated on (more than $400 than) your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
It is a good idea to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
Our typical therapy session lasts about 53-55 minutes.
We recommend that a new client begins therapy by attending weekly sessions for at least 8-12 sessions in order for the client to develop rapport with their therapist and build momentum in the work they are doing towards achieving their goals for therapy. However, we believe the client is the expert on themselves, and if they are more comfortable meeting every other week to start, we will follow their lead.
Your clinician will check in with you periodically to ensure that the therapy process is still benefiting you. Part of that check-in is to determine how satisfied you are regarding the accomplishment of the goals you set for therapy. Once those goals are reached, if you feel ready to discontinue services, we will support you in that decision. If you decide you would like to identify different goals to work on, we will collaborate with you to design a new treatment plan to meet those goals.
